MEDFORD — The Medford Commission for Persons with Disabilities voted to invite city planning staff to brief it on rezoning's impact on accessibility. Consultants from the Institute for Human-Centered Design, Nix McDougall and David West, reported completing surveys of eight schools, six outdoor areas, 12 municipal buildings and a GIS sidewalk study as part of the city's ADA self-evaluation and transition plan. ADA Coordinator Frances Manger said 42 new accessible pedestrian signal buttons will be installed at six intersections using mitigation grant funds, with a June 2027 completion deadline.
Commissioner Anthony Andriotola said "we're not at the table at all" on the city's rezoning process, prompting the commission's unanimous vote to invite a representative from the office led by Alicia Hunt to its December meeting.
