Community Preservation Committee · Meeting of October 27, 2026

MEDFORD — The Medford Community Preservation Committee heard six funding applications but took no votes on them, deferring decisions to a future meeting. Shiloh Baptist Church sought $225,000 for historic window restoration, though members questioned unsupported cost figures, with one saying the numbers "look like they're made up by your Excel spreadsheet." Medford Public Schools Chief Operations Officer Ken Lord requested roughly $150,000 to study accessibility redesigns at three elementary school playgrounds and $40,000 for Curtis-Tufts School stair, roof and cupola repairs. Planning staffer Amanda pitched a $134,000 Berry Park playground redesign, while DPW requested $264,000 for Victory Park court resurfacing and $75,000 for citywide tree plantings.

The committee also weighed a Unitarian Universalist Church emergency roof repair request and a Recreation Department ask to shift $50,000 between two lighting projects, both continued to the November 10 meeting. Members unanimously approved September 8 and October 13 meeting minutes.
