Bicycle Advisory Commission · Meeting of September 23, 2026
Medford Bicycle Advisory Commission approves new light order, donates lights to high schoolers. Commission member Ernie Meunier won approval for an annual order of 960 bicycle safety lights at a net cost of $1.25 each, part of roughly $1,100 the group spends yearly supplying free lights to Medford children, partly underwritten by a $500 annual gift from Beacon Bank. Members also voted unanimously to allocate up to six lights as contest prizes for the Medford High School Eco League Club.
Vice Chair Emily O'Brien and Chair Chris Stivers agreed to form a two-person working group ahead of a planned meeting with Medford police on cyclist harassment and crash-reporting practices. Separately, members noted MassDOT has approved a roughly $79 million contract for a Mystic River bridge project near Encore Boston Harbor, expected to take about three years to build.
