Building panel approves $155,375 in bills, consultant amendment

Medford High School Building Committee approves $155,375 in invoices, presses on geothermal and a teen health center's location. The panel, chaired by Jenny Graham, unanimously cleared June bills from project manager Leftfield ($20,000) and architect SMMA ($135,375), then approved 11-0 with one abstention a contract amendment funding geothermal, solar and pool consultants ahead of an August 3 test bore. Member Luke Preissner objected to a roughly $2.4 million teen health center's proposed site, saying the high school sits in "the most affluent part of Medford" and is "kind of hard to get to," after the Medford School Committee voted 5-1-1 on July 20 to keep the program in the project. Member Libby Brown asked for data on local demand before finalizing the decision.
