Historic District Commission · Meeting of October 8, 2026

MEDFORD — The Medford Historic District Commission heard a PVC millwork pitch and approved July minutes on a 2-0 vote after a member's connection dropped. Chair Joseph Ronayne presided as Tyler of Intex Millwork Solutions, part of the James Hardie organization, walked the board through extruded versus milled PVC, noting a custom extrusion die costs roughly $75,000 and that PVC paint must meet a light reflective value "greater than 55" to avoid heat warping in dark colors. Member Roberta Cameron asked about mixing wood and PVC on a single structure "so that the portion that's the most exposed could be PVC." Community Preservation Act Manager Theresa Dupont said the city recommended a fiberglass alternative for gutters at the David Osgood House, calling it "very successful." The commission also flagged open seats on itself and the Zoning Board of Appeals and set its next meeting for Thursday, November 12, when it plans two certificate-of-appropriateness applications and a discussion of creating new local historic districts.
