Medford Conservation Commission Clears Car Park Wetland Work With Five Conditions

MEDFORD — March 15, 2023 — Medford Conservation Commission issues conditioned negative determination for city car park wetland work, clears Mall bank project. The commission voted 3-0 Wednesday to allow phase one improvements at a city-owned park to proceed without a full Notice of Intent filing, attaching five conditions to protect two isolated vegetated wetlands on the site: submission of a knotweed management plan, establishment of a no-mow zone, erosion control documentation, adherence to full planting plans on sheets C101 and L2, and a requirement that the conservation agent be notified once excavation comes within six feet of the 25-foot wetland buffer. Kayla Bachman of CBA Landscape Architects presented the project, which is funded in phase one for a loop path, two baseball fields, and Community Preservation Act-funded pickleball courts, but not yet for a proposed dog park or pump track. In a separate 5-0 vote, the commission issued a clean negative 1 determination for a proposed 5,000-square-foot Bank of America branch in the northern parking lot of Meadow Glen Mall at 3850 Mystic Valley Parkway, finding the project entirely outside any protected resource area or buffer zone.
