Medford Arts Council opens 2026 grant cycle with 16 applications and a budget nearing $100,000. Grants manager Tyler reported applicants have requested just shy of $30,000 so far, with six submissions returned for revision ahead of the October 15 deadline. Co-chair Laura Jasinski said the council expects roughly $60,000 to $65,000 from the city and about $37,100 from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
Tyler said the council caps most awards at $5,000 and flagged "a bit of a problem with a weighted geographic area" favoring venues like the library, senior center and Condon Shell. Members also discussed a stalled Logan Park tree-sculpture art installation, a new Everett Bank mural, and a possible Tufts University cultural-planning partnership. No formal votes were taken.
